Battlefords Community Players is now in its 75th consecutive year of existence. Our history: Performance Contributions
Battlefords Community Players and its predecessors have brought live theatrical entertainment to the Battlefords since prior to the Second World War.
Since 1953 BCP has produced 250 plays, involving hundreds of volunteers, several of whom have gone on to careers in the performing arts in Vancouver, Toronto, Edmonton, etc.
BCP’s Rivers Edge Festival has produced 60 plays by beginning playwrights, with an emphasis on Saskatchewan and Canadian authors, including several local playwrights.
BCP was the first to bring Dinner Theatre to the province.
BCP has entered over 100 Theatre Saskatchewan competitive drama festivals, achieving over 70 individual and group awards.
In addition to providing live theatre entertainment for the community, BCP offers volunteers with a wide range of interests an opportunity to enjoy a variety of activities where they are encouraged, supported, and mentored in all aspects of theatre production, including acting, directing, set design and construction, stage management, lighting, sound, stage makeup, costuming, script writing, executive positions, researching plays, hosting, and so on.
BCP encourages and provides financial assistance for its members who wish to attend educational workshops or further their education in performing arts.
